雨上がり // After the Rain

Summer 2024 - A self started project.

I designed and made three pieces of glass bead jewellery, and created a matching pattern that would be applied in packaging such as boxes and envelopes.

The designs are inspired by the glistening light that bounces off surfaces when the sun shines after a strong bout of rain.

大雨 (Oame or torrential rain)

水溜り (mizutamari or puddle)

雫 (Shizuku, or water droplet)

I also created a surface pattern designed, inspired by the hours I spent threading clear nylon through the clear and gold beads.

Although not detectable in the photo, the design also includes white squares as well as the grey thread and gold circle elements.

The design was printed onto transfer paper to keep with the theme of water and turned into translucent envelopes that could serve as packaging for flat pieces of jewellery.

It could also be applied to translucent boxes to house the more three dimensional pieces.
